Visual Arts: Develops the artist's skills in visual communication and creation
- Focus: Practicing and applying the elements and principles of art and design.
- Skill Development: Fosters observational, conceptual, and creativity skills to visualize and execute ideas in the real, 3-dimensional world.
Construction: Provides classroom instruction and hands-on experiences
- Key Learning: Knowledge of tools, methods, materials, safety, and current technologies
- Practical Experience: Gained through on-site construction projects.
- Credentials: Uses the HBI Curriculum and students earn their OSHA Certification.
- Emphasis: Strong focus on core employability skills and construction competencies.
Cosmetology: RI certified curriculum that prepares students for a career in the beauty industry.
- Program Hours: A 1,200-hour course covering both theory and technical aspects.
- Curriculum: Includes hair care, nail technologies, and skin care.
- Hands-on: work in the classroom salon, providing services to the public for practical experience.
- Credentialing: Successful completion includes credentialing as a RI licensed Cosmetologist.
Criminal Justice: Prepares you for a career in Law, Public Safety and Security
- Experience: Opportunities for both classroom instruction and hands-on experiences.
- Collaboration: Includes partnerships with the local police department.
- Credentialing: Successful completion includes credentialing by the National Occupational Competency Institute. RIDE Culminating CTE credentials include: National Incident Management Training (NIMS) Introduction to Incident Command Systems
Culinary Arts: Comprehensive training in food preparation, safety, and restaurant operation
- Curriculum: Covers kitchen safety, food sanitation, nutrition, and fundamental to advanced methods of food preparation.
- Skill Practice: Enables students to practice menu planning, advanced techniques, and meal presentation essentials.
- Real-World Operation: Students operate the Highland Grille and Campus Café and engage in catering for various community and school-based events.
IT: Software Design: Focuses on foundational and advanced computer science and software development principles
- Work-Based Learning: Internships partner with CS4RI to create and present a software product to industry mentors.
- Engagement: Students work alongside industry mentors during six day-long site visits
- College Credit: Students are able to earn credits from URI through this program.
Medical Career: Provides instruction and hands-on experience in the medical field, focusing on emergency services
- Advanced Training: EMR and EMT students gain knowledge of equipment, methods, safety, and current trends in EMS.
- Practical Experience: Gained through on-site skills labs and ambulance ride-alongs
- Focus: Preparation for the National Registry licensing exams for EMR and EMT Basic.
- College Credit: CCRI
PTECH Maritime Manufacturing: This is Rhode Island’s only Advanced Manufacturing Pathways in Technology Early College High School (PTECH).
- Key Benefit: Students can earn a WHS diploma, an associate degree, and industry certification in as few as 4 years at no cost.
- Partnerships: Partners include CCRI, General Dynamics, and the RI Manufacturers Association.
- Program Components: Internship opportunities and mentoring programs
- Focus: Personalized learning emphasizes mastery of material and manufacturing skills
Graphic Designer: This program uses art and technology to create visual concepts such as logos, advertising, packaging, and other forms of media to communicate ideas and brand identity to an audience on behalf of a client.
- Focus: Combining art, technology, photography, typography and applying the elements and principles of art and design to create layouts and full concepts for cross-media applications.
- Create: Brand identity, marketing, advertising, digital and print media
Business Entrepreneurship: This new career course gives students the tools to take control of their careers, understand how businesses shape the world, and make confident, informed decisions.
- Curriculum Focus: Covers core business principles, including management, marketing, accounting, economics, finance, and entrepreneurship.
- Technical Skills: Teaches essential office software, digital literacy, and data analysis.
- Career Pathways: Prepares students for careers in marketing, accounting, sales, business management, finance, or starting their own ventures.
Music CTE: Program builds musicianship and instrumental or vocal technique through participation in band, choir, AP Music theory, and adjudication.
- Performance Ensembles: Students participate in instrumental and/or vocal ensembles, practicing advanced musical techniques, collaboration, and time management.
- AP Music Theory: Identifying features of pitch, interval, scales and keys, chords, meter, rhythm, and other musical concepts in performed and notated music.
